PARIS – The Blue Devils continued competition at the 2024 Olympics on Monday with action in men’s basketball. Here is a recap from action on Aug. 6 in France.
United States Advances to Semifinals
Aided by a 66-point first half, the United States’ men’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals after defeating Brazil, 122-87, on Tuesday. The Americans built a 27-point edge at halftime and never looked back en route to the quarterfinal victory.
Jayson Tatum logged just under 20 minutes of action, scoring five points while also snagging three total rebounds.
The United States advance to face Serbia in the semifinals. Both semifinal games will be played on Thursday, Aug. 8, with the United States’ matchup tipping off at 3 p.m., ET. Fans can watch the game live on USA Network or stream it on Peacock.
Canada Falls in Quarterfinals to France
The Canadian men’s basketball bowed out of the knockout stage on Tuesday, falling to host nation France, 82-73. Canada rallied from a halftime deficit and got within five points, 71-66, with just over two minutes remaining but couldn’t complete the comeback.
RJ Barrett played 32 minutes and was one of just two Canadians to reach double-figures, scoring 16 points. Barrett shot 6-of-11 (.545) from the field overall, including 2-of-5 (.400) from beyond the arc.
