Iowa State’s Audi Crooks (player) and BYU’s Delaney Gibb (freshman) earned weekly awards for the last full week of non-conference play.
Crooks posted her third and fourth 30-plus point career games during the week while leading Big 12 players with her average of 30.5 points per game. The sophomore finished 14-of-22 from the floor for 31 points at then-No. 21 Iowa before dropping 30 points on 12-of-16 shooting, including a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, against Eastern Illinois. The center from Algona, Iowa recorded her fifth double-double of the season in the game against the Hawkeyes while scoring her 850th career point in her 44th career game. This is Crooks’ first weekly accolade of the season and her third league Player of the Week recognition of her career after shooting 68.4% during the week.
Gibb shot 63% from the floor and 55.6% from downtown during the week while averaging 20 points a game in two BYU wins, the most among Conference freshmen. The freshman scored 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, going 2-for-4 from three to go along with four assists, two rebounds and a steal in the Cougars’ 76-36 win over Utah Valley. The guard from Raymond, Alberta finished with a career-high 26 points at Washington State to lift BYU to a 15-point win, shooting 11-of-16 from the field and 3-of-5 from deep. Gibb had 21 of her 26 points in the second half, including a personal 8-0 run in the third quarter. This is her second weekly award this season.
