A village is marking Remembrance Day with a display of more than 2,500 knitted poppies.

Fremington in north Devon has decorated its village green with the poppies, made by both experienced knitters and first-timers.

The collection was started a few years ago by two local women and has grown in size.

Chair of the Fremington and District Community Group, Frank Biederman, said the poppies are all displayed in different ways and “in different colours to represent the different groups of people and animals who made the ultimate sacrifice”.
