Matthew Gable, the Environment Agency’s incident manager, has given an update on the flooding situation in Nottinghamshire.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “There is certainly a fairly high risk of some flooding this morning. We did see quite a lot of rain overnight.

“There’s probably about 44mm fallen over the last 24 hours, which is quite a lot of water particularly on a catchment that is quite wet.

“As that rainfall runs into the rivers we will still see them rising throughout the next 24 hours.

“We’ll be watching that really closely.”

He said there were eight flood warnings in place across the county

“We have people on 24/7 monitoring the rivers and we will be issuing additional flood warnings to keep people aware.”
