An Indianapolis music teacher was arrested Thursday after an investigation uncovered child sexual abuse material and a chatlog with a 13-year-old, where he detailed his sexual fantasies involving students.
Kayvon Hossein Emtiaz, 28, was preliminarily charged with one count of child exploitation.
Emtiaz worked as a choir director at the Avon Community School Corporation between November 2019 and December 2022. He was issued an emergency educator permit for the 2022-2023 school year to teach at Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School, online records show. In March 2023, he started an independent consulting company where he continued to teach music in various Indianapolis high schools and performing arts organizations.
Emtiaz continued working with Avon Community Schools’ extracurricular choir and theatre programs after he left his job in December 2022. An Avon schools spokesperson told IndyStar the district is unaware of any allegations involving its students, and said that Emtiaz’s extracurricular involvement and access to school grounds were immediately terminated after the arrest.
Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Emtiaz’s Indiana educator license expired in August, according to online records.
Avon Police Department began investigating Emtiaz in September after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
That tip included Snapchat videos of a man masturbating in a musical classroom. They were uploaded by the handle “kavman105.” In one of the videos, a computer in the background appeared to show the logo of Avon Middle School North, court documents say. Investigators also uncovered photos of an “indeterminate age female” from the same Snapchat account.
A separate NCMEC tip, submitted on the same day as the first, included a chat transcript from a different Snapchat account called “fiftyshadedaddy,” which was associated with the same IP address as kavman105. The tip showed fiftyshadedaddy asking another user if they “have a thing for older guys.” Court documents do not make clear how old the other chatter was.
Investigators submitted a search warrant to Snapchat for both of the accounts’ data. That warrant uncovered a trove of disturbing material.
In one conversation, kavman105 asks another user for her age. After she responds that she’s 13 years old, kavman105 tells her, “I’m a 28yo naughty teacher who fantasize [sic] about his students all the time.” Kavman105 told the girl that he wanted to keep students after class, lock them in the classroom and sexually assault them.
Investigators found that kavman105 saved 66 photos and videos of the young girl, some of which were sexually explicit.
Avon Police searched Emtiaz’s home on Thursday, where they found that the home’s IP address matched the one associated with both fiftyshadesdaddy and kavman105.
Emtiaz told police he used both of the Snapchat accounts, according to a probable cause affidavit. Police say he admitted to having sexual chats with underage girls, but denied saving images of them.
Emtiaz is currently being held in the Marion County Jail. The prosecutor’s office will make final charging decisions.
