AUSTIN, TX – Johns Hopkins junior defender Ella Macko and senior forward Katie Sullivan have been named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Women’s Soccer Team it was announced today. Macko, a second team selection, and Sullivan, a third team selection, become the 20th and 21st players in program history to earn Academic All-America honors; Johns Hopkins ranks among the top 10 women’s soccer programs all-time – in all divisions – with its 21 selections.
Macko is majoring in molecular and cellular biology and has a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average. She is a certified Emergency Medical Technician and has been a Lead Volunteer at Share Baby in Baltimore, which provides needed items to underprivileged children in the city. In addition, Macko has served as a tutor with the Next One Up program in Baltimore and is an undergraduate research assistant at the Krieger Brain and Mind Institute.
On the field, Macko is a two-time Honorable Mention All-Centennial Conference selection and has played in 63 games with 44 starts in her career. This season, she played in all 24 games with 23 starts and notched one goal and one assist while helping lead a Blue Jay defense that held 20 of 24 opponents to one goal or less and notched 14 shutouts on the year.
Sullivan carries a 3.67 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in economics. Off the field, she has worked closely with the Advocates for the Homeless and Those in Need (AHTN) Shared Meals Program since 2017. In addition, she has worked in the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications office since arriving as a freshman – she has worked as both a statistician and member of the video crew that produces live streams of Blue Jay athletic events.
On the field, Sullivan ranks as the most decorated player in program history. She recently became the first, four-time All-American in Johns Hopkins history as she notched her third, first-team selection to go with one second-team selection. She was also a four-time All-Centennial Conference honoree, was twice named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year and ended her career with 60 goals and 31 assists for 151 points. She ranks second in school history in goals and points and is tied for second in assists after punching up 19 goals and eight assists for 44 points in 2024.
