Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men’s soccer team defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-2), 1-0, in a non-conference matchup on Friday, Sept. 6 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium Providence, R.I. The Friars improved to a 3-1-1 overall record. Rhode Island native Kevin Castañeda (Providence, R.I.) scored the lone goal of the game, his first of the season. PC’s Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) recorded his second shutout of the year.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- The Scarlet Knights almost opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a shot to the upper left corner that deflected off the crossbar.
- Rutgers’ player Nick Collins received his second yellow of the match (16:55), that left the Scarlet Knights with a man down for the remainder of the game.
- In the 20th minute, Pepe Lora (Madrid, Spain), took a wide-open shot that sailed just above the goal.
- The Friars took a 1-0 lead in early in the second half. Castañeda recorded his first Friar goal with a shot inside of the box. Rodrigo Vaza (Torres Vedras, Portugal) was awarded the assist.
- Providence outshot Rutgers 21-7.
