MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A police pursuit ended dramatically Wednesday afternoon near Chelsea Avenue and Warford Street, resulting in the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection to multiple auto thefts and burglaries, according to the Memphis Police Department.

At approximately 4:35 p.m., officers attempted to detain a male suspect in the 4200 block of Macon Road. MPD officials said the suspect used his vehicle to ram two occupied police vehicles, including an undercover car, before fleeing the scene.

The chase ended at Chelsea and Warford, where police say the suspect jumped out of his vehicle while it was still in drive. He then allegedly tried to gain entry to an occupied vehicle nearby. To prevent further danger, an MPD officer used a patrol car to stop the suspect’s vehicle, which was still in motion. The suspect sustained non-critical injuries and was transported to Methodist University Hospital for treatment.

The Memphis Police Department confirmed that the Crime Scene Unit arrived at the location shortly after the arrest to begin an investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details about the suspect or potential charges have been released. FOX13 will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
