(KOAM) – Northeast Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) celebrated a historic achievement at the American Royal, where Tyeson Gravenhof of Roundup, Montana, claimed the title of High Individual Overall with a substantial 12-point lead.
Gravenhof’s victory is the first American Royal win by an NEO student since 2000, breaking a 24-year streak.
In addition to his top honor, Gravenhof secured 2nd High Individual in Cattle, 6th High in Reasons, and 7th High in Sheep and Goats. Fellow teammate Brighton Lane, also from Montana, earned 4th High Individual in Reasons.
The NEO team also brought home:
- 2nd High Team in Sheep and Goats
- 3rd High Team in Cattle
- 4th High Team in Reasons
- 7th High Team in Swine
Earlier in the season, NEO’s team, featuring sophomores Tyeson Gravenhof, Brighton Lane, Jacey Smith, Avery Kimble, Dustee Hollenback, Cooper Frazier, and Chloe Mabry, achieved wins across several competitions:
- Top Notch (Paragould, AR) – Champion Team; Gravenhof, High Individual
- Prof Livdall Memorial (Cookeville, TN) – Champion Team; Lane, High Individual
- AKSARBEN (Grand Island, NE) – Reserve Champion Team
- Tulsa State Fair (Tulsa, OK) – 5th High Team
- Cimarron Classic (Stillwater, OK) – 3rd High Team
NEO Livestock Judging Coach Mattie Haynes praised the team’s efforts: “The history of the NEO Livestock Judging team is rich, and watching these students couple their talent with unparalleled grit and determination to represent our college at the highest level is remarkable. I am humbled to coach students who make me a better person every day.”
