My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty has confirmed his brother has died.
Speaking in a candid Instagram video, Paddy confirmed to fans: “Just letting yous all know, my brother died at quarter past eleven, ten minutes ago, you know what I mean?
“And he’s gone to God now, he’s with his daddy… God rest that man. God bless you, thank you.”
Paddy looked heartbroken as he smoked a cigarette in the short clip, captioning the video: “RIP MY DEARLY LOVED BROTHER X.”
No cause of death has yet been given, the Daily Star reports.
Fans rushed to support their heartbroken TV favourite, with one writing: “So sorry for your loss Paddy sending my condolences to your family.”
“RIP to your brother Paddy. May he SLEEP WITH ANGELS. We’ve never met but I know your a Great & God Blessed Man Paddy. HOLD THE FAITH MY BROTHER,” someone else said.
A third fan penned: “RIP Martin. Remember meeting you and Martin on the boat to Ireland, think it was family fortunes Ireland you was attending, his mrs was going mad because he was on the ale. He ended up getting smashed with me and my brother all way over. Down to earth fella sorry for your loss paddy.”
“Thinking of you and your family at this sad time,” another fan posted.
Paddy has lost both of his parents already, with his mum Elizabeth ‘Queenie’ Doherty passing away after suffering a massive heart attack in 2018, just days after a headstone was put on his father Simon’s grave.
Paddy told PA News at the time: “She never wanted to live when my father died, and all she wanted was the headstone and it to be up.
“That went up and then she started saying ‘I am going to go now, I want God to take me, God will take me very shortly’, and four days afterwards she died of a massive heart attack.
“She wanted that, she wanted to go.”
It comes just weeks after Paddy himself was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Posting the worrying caption: “My heart I think… I had a heart attack. [Breathing] keeps being difficult. Heart attack I thought,” Paddy accompanied his Facebook post with a clip showing him in hospital at the time.
He sounded slightly out of breath in the videos posted to his account, and claimed he had been stuck in a hospital corridor for two days as they didn’t have the facilities to move him – and a group of other patients – to a ward.
But he was quick to reassure fans despite the oxygen mask: “There’s nothing wrong with me, I’m fantastic, I’ve just got this on… I’m in the hallway.”
