On Sunday, December 1, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Live Oaks neighborhood off MS Highway 468 following a report of an auto burglary.
The Live Oaks area had been plagued by multiple burglaries over the past month, despite ongoing patrols by marked units and covert operations.
Through collaboration between the Live Oaks Homeowners Association, local residents, and the Sheriff’s Office, investigators made significant progress in the case, leading to the identification of a suspect: Jakvious Derrion Galloway.
Following Galloway’s arrest, deputies learned he lived in the Live Oaks neighborhood and had been transporting stolen property to Jackson for disposal.
While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities believe Galloway could face more than 10 counts of auto burglary.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office extended its gratitude to the Live Oaks HOA and residents for their assistance in resolving the case. The partnership between the community and law enforcement proved vital in addressing the neighborhood’s recent crime wave.
