Reneé Rapp postpones hometown show in Charlotte after losing her voice

Huntersville-native Reneé Rapp has postponed her Charlotte show due to ongoing voice recovery.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Reneé Rapp was set to conclude her “BITE ME” tour in Charlotte on Wednesday at the Spectrum Center, but the Huntersville native announced late Tuesday night the hometown show has been rescheduled.

Rapp previously rescheduled tour dates for Atlanta and Tampa for medical reasons, she said, and was hoping to keep the Charlotte tour date as planned. Tuesday night, though, she posted on Instagram that her voice was still gone.

“I’m recovering slowly but still not in a place where I am able to perform safely tomorrow night at my hometown show- I am so sorry and heartbroken that I have to postpone,” she wrote.

Charlotte’s tour date has been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 7. All tickets for the original Spectrum Center show will be valid for the rescheduled date, she said. Rapp apologized to fans, acknowledging the time and effort that planning to attend a show can take for people.

“I’m taking this time to recover and then next week for these rescheduled shows I will give you the best version of me,” she said. “The best version of this show that I love so much. The show you deserve to see.”

Rapp graduated from Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte in 2018 after spending her junior and senior years there.

She made her Broadway debut in 2019 playing Regina George in “Mean Girls” until production stopped in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She then spent two seasons on “The Sex Lives of College Girls” on Max before releasing her debut album “Snow Angel” in August 2023, stopping in Charlotte on the accompanying “Snow Hard Feelings” tour. She reprised her role as Regina George in the film adaptation, which hit theaters last year.

“704 4eva,” Rapp said in her Instagram story.
