Russell Crowe’s 2024 box office bust Land of Bad is one of the new movies to debut on Netflix this week.
According to Netflix, the action thriller will begin streaming on Thursday.
The Numbers reported that Land of Bad opened in 1,120 theaters on February 16 and ended its theatrical run with $4.62 million at the domestic box office and $1.89 million in international ticket sales for a final worldwide tally of $6.5 million.
IMDb reported that Land of Bad had an estimated production budget of $25 million before prints and advertising. However, The Movie Database based reported that Land of Bad—which also stars Liam Hemsworth—had an $18 million production budget before its P&A spend.
The logline for Land of Bad reads, “A covert Special Forces operation in the South Philippines spirals into a brutal 48-hour battle for survival. When an elite extraction team is ambushed deep in enemy territory, rookie officer Kinney (Hemsworth) is left outnumbered but determined to leave no man behind.
“With an air strike closing in, Kinney’s only hope hinges on the guidance of Air Force drone pilot Reaper (Crowe), navigating unknowable danger where every move could be their last.”
Directed by William Eubank, Land of Bad also stars Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle and Milo Ventimiglia.
Rotten Tomatoes critics collectively gave Land of Bad a 64% “fresh” rating based on 61 reviews, while RT users gave the film a 94% “fresh” audience score based on 250-plus verified user ratings.
Crowe most recently starred in the indie horror thriller The Exorcism opposite Frasier icon David Hyde Pierce.

On Tuesday, parts two and three of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy—2017’s Fifty Shades Darker and 2018 ’s Fifty Shades Free—join the original film on Netflix. Fifty Shades of Grey debuted on the streamer in June.
