“You’re a part of this world until that curtain closes.” Prime Video debuts this documentary film streaming on their service starting today – July 25th – if anyone wants to watch. Cirque du Soleil: Without a Net is a doc feature that follows the resurgence of Cirque du Soleil after the most difficult period in its history – shutting down during the pandemic in 2020 & 2021. This film originally premiered in late 2022 at the DOC NYC Film Festival, waiting for a final full release this year. When CdS attempts to fully reboot its flagship production, “O”, more than a year after an abrupt global shutdown, both performers & crew members face uncertainty as they work to return to their world-class standards in time for the (re)opening night curtain in Las Vegas. Some may also remember there was a special 3D movie called Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away, produced by none other than James Cameron, which originally opened in 2012 – so this isn’t even the first Cirque du Soleil movie either. But it is a compelling inside look at the lives of the performers and their work putting together this show, also acting as marketing for all their shows which are still running in Las Vegas.
