SUMMERSET, S.D. – Groups from around the Black Hills focused on public safety met at the Summerset Police Department yesterday in the first Public Safety Day held by the Summerset PD.
Multiple agencies were there including Black Hills Life Flight, the South Dakota Masonic CHILD Identification Program, Code Blue CPR training and even Black Hills Energy.
From face-painting to hot dogs, the whole family was able to find ways to have fun. Police Chief Rich Nasser wanted everyone to know that the message today was safety.
“We’re focusing on everything safety related,” said Nasser. “Life Flight is here. We have Monument Health. We’re doing CPR demonstrations. If the community has questions about the fire departments and what they do, they can come and ask questions.
“We have dispatch centers from Pennington and Meade County. So when you call 911, you can meet the person that answers your call. Black Hills Energy is here doing electricity safety. so a bunch of avenues all coming together to have a fun day.”
Summerset PD attends many events like this throughout the region. This is the first of their Public Safety Days with more expected in the future.
