Colorado College juniors Noah Laba and Kaidan Mbereko and graduate student Ty Gallagher are among 95 student-athletes nominated for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award, according to the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation.
 
The Hobey Baker Award is presented annually to the collegiate hockey player who best demonstrates strength of character both on and off the ice, contributes to the integrity of his team and displays outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration is given for scholastic achievement and sportsmanship. 
 
Colorado College has had two winners since the first Hobey Baker was awarded in 1981, Peter Sejna (2003) and Marty Sertich (2005).
 
Laba, a forward from Northville, Mich., leads the Tigers this season with 17 points (5g,12a). He posted the first hat trick of his career last Friday in a 7-2 victory over Minnesota Duluth and tops the team with 12 assists. He notched the overtime game-winning goal in the season-opener vs. Northern Michigan, then followed up with a career-high four assists the following night vs. the Wildcats.   

Mbereko, a goaltender from Aspen, Colo., is tied for second in the NCHC with 11 victories. He was the National Co-Goaltender of the Month in November. Mbereko, a first-team All-American last season, was named to the Mike Richter Award “Watch List” for this season.

 

Gallagher, a defenseman from Clarkston, Mich., is tied for second on the team with five goals, 10 assists and 15 points. He leads the team and is eighth in the NCHC with 64 shots and is fourth in the league with a team-high 36 blocked shots.
