TAMPA, Fla. (December 6, 2024) – The University of South Florida men’s basketball team hits the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup with undefeated Loyola Chicago. The Bulls (5-3) and the Ramblers (7-0) are set to battle on USA Network on December 7 at 12:30 p.m. ET.
JR’s 40th Game was a Historic One
Jayden Reid is just one of four players in Division I this season to record a game with 20 plus points, eight plus assists, and shoot 70 percent from the field, 3-point range, and the free-throw line. He posted 23 points and eight assists, shot 72.7 percent from the field, 80.0 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.
He is only the fourth American Athletic Conference player to achieve this feat. He joins fell Bull Corey Allen Jr. (11/12/2013), Jeremiah Martin of Memphis (12/29/2018), and Keshawn Williams of Tulsa (12/23/2020).
28 Straight Games
USF has gone 28 consecutive games with at least 25 rebounds and 10 assists, which is the sixth-longest streak in Division I. The last time the Bulls had a longer streak was 58 straight games between November 28, 2000, and March 6, 2002.
Making it Count at the Line
The Bulls have shot at least 65.0 percent from the free-throw line in all eight games this season. The only time over the past 25 years that USF has had a longer streak to start a season was in 2017-18 (the first nine games).
South Florida has 11 different players this season who have made multiple free-throw attempts. Their free-throw percentage is above 60.0 percent, which is tied for sixth most in Division I and the most by any AAC team in 2024-25. USF is tied for 99th in the country and fifth in the AAC with a free-throw percentage of 73.9 percent.

South Florida is tied for 29th in the nation and is third in the conference with 16.00 fastbreak points per game.
Looking at the Bulls
Jayden Reid paces the team with 12.4 points per game and has a team-best 30 assists. He is second on the team with 11 steals. Jamille Reynolds leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 11.1 points per contest. He averages 7.00 defensive rebounds per game, which is tied for 22nd in the NCAA and the most in the American. His 8.3 rebounds per game are tied for 61st in the country and tied for third in the AAC. He paces the team with 10 blocks. Kobe Knox is third on the team averaging 10.8 points per contest. Kasen Jennings rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.4 points a game. He is third on the team with 19 assists and has added seven steals. De’Ante Green is second on the team averaging 5.9 rebounds per game. He is averaging 7.0 points per game with six assists, four blocks, and one steal. Brandon Stroud leads the team with 13 steals. He is averaging 7.9 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game. He is second on the squad with 20 assists. CJ Brown is tied for second on the team with four blocked shots. He is averaging 7.1 points per contest.
History with Loyola Chicago
South Florida and Loyola Chicago will meet for the fourth time on Saturday. The Bulls have won all three meetings, including a 77-64 victory in Tampa last December. Saturday will be the first meeting between the two squads in Chicago.
Scouting the Ramblers
Jayden Dawson leads the Rambles with 13.7 points per game. He has a team-high 10 steals to go along with seven assists and six blocks. Des Watson is second on the team averaging 11.9 points a contest and second on the squad with 21 assists. He has added eight steals and two blocks. Sheldon Edwards rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.7 a game. Miles Rubin paces the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. He has a team-best 14 blocks. Justin Moore paces the squad with 44 assists and is averaging 8.1 points per game. As a team, the Ramblers are second in the NCAA with 20.6 assists per game. Loyola Chicago has outscored its opponents by an average of 21.1 points, which is 14th in the NCAA. The Ramblers bench is tied for 14th in the NCAA scoring 35.0 points per game.

About USF Men’s Basketball
The University of South Florida men’s basketball, led by interim head coach Ben Fletcher, is a member of the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls enter their 2024-25 campaign, presented by Tampa General Hospital, on the heels of their best season in program history, in which they claimed their first-ever regular season conference title, won a record 25 games, and earned a Top 25 ranking for the first time in program history.
