MARTIN, Tenn. – SIUE was unable to clinch their second OVC game against UT Martin. The Cougars led the game until the fourth quarter when the Skyhawks took charge winning the game 72-65.
 
The Cougars go to 3-14, 1-7 in OVC. While the Skyhawks improved to 7-12, 4-4 in OVC.
 
Macy Silvey had another 20-point game scoring 21 points for SIUE. She made 50 percent (5-10) of her shots from the field, connecting on 4-9 of her three-pointers. She also put up five rebounds.

KK Rodriguez had her second game in a row being the rebounding leader, grabbing 10 rebounds for the Cougars. 

 

Ava Stoller and Sofie Lowis also scored in the double digits having 11 points each. Stoller also contributed five rebounds and one assist. While Lowis had three rebounds and five assists.

 

SIUE led the game taking the lead at halftime 35- 29. Under head coach Samantha Quigley-Smith the Cougars are 24-18 when it comes to leading at halftime.

 

However, the Skyhawks took their first lead of the game off a three-pointer from Kaitlyn Mccarn making the score 49-48 at the end of the third quarter.

 

Sofie Lowis put the Cougars back in the lead with 6:51 left in the fourth quarter.

 

The score was tied up twice in the fourth quarter alone, but UT Martin scored 10 points off of SIUE turnovers, giving them a seven-point lead to win the game.

 

Up next, The Cougars welcome Southern Indiana to First Community Arena. Tip off is set for 5:00 pm January 23.
