Your iPhone could be getting a seismic update

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Apple is getting ready to make a significant redesign of its operating software, expected to be the biggest overhaul in a long time.

We’re talking over a decade!

To be fair, it’s not just the iPhone that will see the updates. There will be changes to the interfaces on iPads and Macs as well.

The overhaul is due later this year, and there’s all sorts of chatter about it on tech sites.

According to reports, the revamp will fundamentally change the look of the operating systems and make the company’s software platforms more consistent.

What it will look like exactly—no one knows for sure—but it’s said the design will be based loosely on the software for Apple’s mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro.

That includes things like circular app icons, updated menus, and windows. It also makes more use of depth and shadows.

So why the change? Some say to entice buyers.

Apple recently had to delay promised artificial intelligence for Siri, and sales of the iPhone haven’t been the best.

Or, it could be that it’s time. iOS 7 was first unveiled back in 2013, and the company hasn’t made significant changes to its operating system since then. Apple hasn’t commented. The new update could be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference in the summer.
