Nearly all cases of cervical cancer are caused by persistent infection with high-risk strains of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). “Nearly all cases of squamous cell carcinoma of cervix is caused by the Human Papillomavirus, or HPV,” explains Dr Sathyanarayanan.
