MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Spring break travel is shaping up to be very busy this year. According to a new AAA Michigan Consumer Pulse Survey, about one in three Michiganders, or roughly 26 percent, say they plan on taking a trip this spring break.

That same survey shows Michiganders will be seeking warmer climates for spring break, like Florida. A AAA Spokesperson, Adrienne Woodland, says even if gas prices rise, people will still take their trips.

“Historically, and we’re talking about going back 20 plus years, when it comes to travel surveys, we’ve found that even when gas prices are higher, people still want to take their vacations, so they’ll look for other ways to save money, they may not eat out as much or they may look for free or inexpensive activities,” Woodland said.

Woodland also says that about 67 percent of survey respondents said they plan to travel with their immediate family.
