Sy Luan: For me, showbiz is not a ‘battle’ to win or lose.

Singer-songwriter Sy Luan made his mark with many hit songs in the early 2000s such as “Tuoi Hong,” “Ao Dai Oi,” and “Mat Nai Cha Cha Cha “… After a serious traffic accident in 2009, Sy Luan seemed to transform into a different person. He has a lot of positive energy, optimism, and always lives life to the fullest for the plans and dreams he cherishes.

Sharing with artist Trung Dân on the “Life Storyteller” program, Sỹ Luân revealed that his family did not support his pursuit of an artistic career, instead directing him towards Marketing. At that time, his family believed that “singing and acting are lowly professions,” and therefore did not want him to pursue music , even predicting he would not succeed in this field. But because of his love and passion, the male singer remained determined to pursue his dream.

Throughout his artistic career, the male singer revealed that he started as a musician, playing keyboard/piano before composing music, singing, hosting, acting in films, and directing music videos. Sy Luan said that when he gets to live with his passion for art, he feels happy doing whatever he does. Because he gets to live with his passion, living in a happy environment. Even when Sy Luan’s name gradually became known, his family still couldn’t believe he had succeeded in the path he had chosen. “When I became famous, my parents didn’t believe it when Sy Luan was mentioned on TV and in newspapers; they just thought it was a coincidence of names,” he recounted.

Despite overcoming many difficulties to establish himself, Sy Luan affirms that he has never had to “fight” for a position, but simply worked for his passion. He believes: “For me, showbiz isn’t a battle for superiority or competition. If I have a successful song, I’m happy. If a friend has a successful song, I congratulate them. For me, everything is about contributing to the public; if I haven’t succeeded yet, I should just work harder.”

At the peak of his career in 2009, Sy Luan was involved in a serious traffic accident that caused him to lose his memory, interrupting his artistic career. He relied on his mother for everything, even the smallest tasks. After recovering, Sy Luan began to think more simply and appreciate life. “I don’t see it as a tragedy, but as an opportunity to experience life and death. From that, I learned to adjust my mindset, learned more about people and life, and most importantly, found the value of life. Only when you’re on the brink of death do you truly appreciate the value of life,” he expressed.

Especially after experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic, Sy Luan has come to appreciate life even more. Besides training artistic talents, the male singer actively participates in charitable projects with the desire to contribute to the community. The singer proudly revealed his “Loving Heart” project, in which he and other artists have helped many disadvantaged people in society.
