Cristiano Ronaldo has officially tied the knot with Georgina Rodriguez.

The couple revealed the news in a shared Instagram image on Tuesday evening, which featured gold bands on each of their ring fingers.

It was captioned “C❤️G” and surpassed a million likes in a matter of minutes.

Georgina, 32, and Ronaldo, 41, were due to marry this weekend on the football star’s native island of Madeira.

Many expected a major public ceremony, but it never happened, with many mistaking another man for him at a wedding over the weekend.

And it looks like they were able to keep things low-key, with Tuesday’s news coming as a surprise.

Ronaldo previously revealed he intended to marry Georgina following this year’s World Cup, which saw Portugal knocked out in the Round of 16 by Spain.

Speaking to Piers Morgan, he said: “I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy.”

He continued: “I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children – but because she’s the person I love most.”

The couple got engaged last August after eight years together, with Georgina announcing the happy news on Instagram alongside the simple caption: “Yes, I do.”

Ronaldo later shared the sweet story behind his proposal, revealing it happened in the early hours of the morning.

He told Piers Morgan: “It was like 1 am. My daughters were in bed sleeping.”

“One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum and you’re going to ask her to get married.’”

He added: “I said, ‘Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.’ It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day, but I hadn’t planned to do it then.”

The football icon also admitted he spent a long time searching for the perfect engagement ring.

He said: “She asked me for a ring to offer her because it was one of her dreams to have a good stone. And I work hard, work hard and finally I find what she loves.”

Cristiano and Georgina first met in 2016 when she was working as a sales assistant in a Gucci store in Madrid.

They have built a beautiful family together over the years, sharing daughters Alana and Bella, while also raising twins Eva Maria and Mateo, who were born via surrogacy.

Tragically, Bella’s twin brother Angel died shortly after birth.

Ronaldo is also father to his eldest son, Cristiano Jr, from a previous relationship.

The famous family relocated to Saudi Arabia in 2022 after Ronaldo signed a blockbuster deal with Al-Nassr reportedly worth £175 million per year.

The move marked the end of his career at the very highest level of European football, having previously hoped to secure a move to another Champions League club before accepting the Saudi offer
