On the final night of Paris Fashion Week, Nicolas Ghesquière sent a model down the Louis Vuitton runway in a ruffled plaid blouse with a scarf-like train, a butter-yellow silk apron skirt, and fluid trousers underneath. It was an unexpected combination, but one that neatly summed up the mood of the week.

By then, fashion month’s biggest ideas—sheer dressing, playful styling, and a renewed approach to personal style—had already emerged. The Paris shows simply sharpened them. Haider Ackermann stripped evening wear back to its essentials at Tom Ford, Chanel made tweed feel almost weightless, and the spirit of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette echoed across the runways in the form of ribboned mules. Even the bags followed suit, with perforated leather styles at Hermès and Chloé lending accessories the same sense of lightness.

Here, the standout spring/summer 2027 trends from Paris Fashion Week.

New York, London, and Milan all toyed with the art of exposure, and the theme of undressing continued in Paris. From Tom Ford’s seductive play on skin and sculptural tailoring to whisper-thin slips at Chanel and Balenciaga, exposed dressing showed no signs of slowing down.

The pattern may be shedding its cold-weather reputation. Across the runways, designers rendered the classic check in lightweight suiting, airy dresses, and breezy separates like Chanel’s knit “tweed” and Nicolas Ghesquière’s romantic take, brimming with ruffles and silk carré trains, at Louis Vuitton.

As in Milan, bras graduated to full-fledged going-out tops. At Miu Miu, sport-inspired bralettes were worn over technical base layers and teensy gym shorts. The underwear-as-outerwear trend also appeared at Stella McCartney, Courrèges, and Hermès, where Nadège Vanhée embraced a stripped-back approach to spring dressing.

Sofia Coppola’s newly restored Marie Antoinette, which premiered during the Paris shows, seemed to linger over the runways—especially when it came to footwear. Chanel, Lanvin, and Vaquera all embraced ultrafeminine mules adorned with satin bows, delicate rosettes, and jeweled embellishments.

Transparency wasn’t reserved for dresses and tops. Hermès, Maison Margiela, and Chanel all embraced fishnet and perforated handbags, turning everyday totes into lighter, more playful propositions.
