The winners of the second series of The Celebrity Traitors have been crowned.

After James Acaster outed himself as a Traitor in the penultimate episode, seven contestants remained in Friday night’s highly anticipated final.

Maya Jama and King Kenny were the remaining Traitors, while the Faithfuls still in the running were singer James Blunt, Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock, actor Michael Sheen, comedian Romesh Ranganathan and actor Sebastian Croft.

Following several weeks of treachery, backstabbing, chaotic reveals and dramatics, Sebastian and Romesh were crowned the winners of series two, sharing the £83,000 prize pot between their chosen charities.

At the beginning of Friday’s episode, Maya and Kenny decided to murder actor Michael.

Even though Michael had previously expressed suspicions of Maya, the Traitors chose to murder him because of his intelligence, as Maya and Kenny explained: “It’s our only hope of survival at this point.”

In his exit speech to viewers, Michael said: “The time has come. Can’t say I’m surprised, but I am incredibly disappointed. Gutted that I got so close to the end. It’s been absolutely unforgettable and I’ve loved every minute of it.”

For the final mission, the six remaining players had to work together to collect dynamite.

They then used that dynamite to blow up bunkers, which contained gold worth a whopping £18,500.

The players were ultimately successful in their mission, meaning that their final prize pot stood at £83,000.

Heading into the final Round Table, Faithful players Romesh, Sebastian and James all expressed suspicions of Leigh-Anne and Maya.

James also revealed fresh doubts about Kenny, and tried to rally Romesh and Sebastian to agree with him.

Maya kicked off the Round Table by trying to deflect the heat off her, and attempted to claim that her presence in the room when Ross Kemp was killed in plain sight was not relevant.

Romesh then accused Maya of having behaviour that exudes the “perfect Traitor game”, while James argued that Maya was “vivacious and loud enough” to pull off the murder in plain sight.

Following a tense final Round Table, Romesh received two votes and Maya received four, including one from her fellow Traitor Kenny.

The result meant that Maya was the final player to be banished, but because she was not allowed to reveal her identity, her fellow players were left none the wiser about whether or not she was a Traitor.

Speaking to the camera after her exit, Maya exclaimed: “Kenny, I took you under my wing in the treacherous world, and you stabbed me in the back! I knew it was coming.”

In his own confessional, Kenny explained: “It felt terrible voting for Maya. I really wanted to get to the end with Maya, but I’ve always gone with the evidence and voted that way, so it would have been weird if I didn’t do that at the Round Table.”

In the Endgame, Romesh, Kenny, Sebastian, James and Leigh-Anne all voted to banish again, out of fear that there was still a Traitor in the castle.

Leigh-Anne received votes from all of her fellow players, meaning that she was the next contestant to be banished from the game.

“I had a feeling that the boys were going to vote me out! I have come so far in this game,” Leigh-Anne said in a confessional afterwards, adding that she was “walking away feeling super proud”.

The remaining players subsequently voted again on whether to do another banishment or to end the game for good.

James, Sebastian and Romesh all voted to banish again, while Kenny hoped to end the game and steal the prize pot for his charity.

Kenny and James received two votes each, after Romesh argued that James was “dismissive” of Maya’s parting message to the group, which was: “Good luck, you’re going to need it.”

Sebastian and Romesh were then allowed to confer with one another, with Sebastian telling him: “I think he [Kenny] might have been recruited after Hannah … I trust James more.”

As the last Traitor standing, Kenny was banished from the castle, later exclaiming to the camera: “Absolutely devastated. I almost scraped it!”

However, despite unknowingly being the final three Faithful players standing, James still voted for him, Sebastian and Romesh to banish again.

Romesh voted for James, James voted for Romesh, and in his deciding vote, Sebastian voted for James to leave the castle.

As the last two players standing, and as they were both Faithful, Sebastian and Romesh were declared joint winners and will now share the £83,000 prize pot between them.

In the Endgame, Sebastian shared that he will be donating his winnings to Choose Love, while Romesh will be giving his prize pot to The Refugee Council.
