Liezel Lopez confirms she and her non-showbiz boyfriend have parted ways

Kapuso actress Liezel Lopez is single again. The Sparkle star revealed that she and her non-showbiz boyfriend have already called it quits, stressing that their split happened on good terms.

Liezel opened up about the breakup when she guested on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Monday, November 2, together with her fellow StarStruck Season 6 alumnae Analyn Barro and Arra San Agustin. As reported by GMA Entertainment, Boy Abunda asked the actress how she and the non-showbiz guy she had previously talked about on the show were doing.

Liezel answered that they had already separated, and that it was a peaceful decision. According to her, she wanted to focus on herself and her career at this point in her life, and she wanted her former partner to do the same.

“I think I just really want to focus on myself, my career, and I want him to do the same for himself too. So sabi ko, ‘Let’s just [give each other] space. You know? Space lang, focus on your work,’” Liezel said.

The actress admitted that the two of them had some conflict because they move in very different worlds. Still, she did not completely close the door on the possibility of them finding their way back to each other someday.

“I’m like, ‘Okay, so focus muna tayo on each other’s world and maybe, malay mo, kung tayo talaga, pagkikitain tayo ulit ni Lord at kung tayo talaga sa huli, magiging tayo,’” she shared.

It was also on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda where Liezel first confirmed that she was in a relationship with someone outside the entertainment industry. Based on a report by GMA News Online, she chose not to reveal his identity at the time, saying that they were very private. She also cited privacy as the biggest advantage of dating a non-showbiz partner, and admitted even then that they lived in different worlds.

When asked during the show’s “Fast Talk” segment who was making her kilig at that time, Liezel sweetly answered, “‘Yung mahal ko.”

While her love life has taken a turn, Liezel’s career is clearly on the rise. She, Analyn, and Arra are among the new generation of FHM girls as the iconic men’s magazine makes its comeback. According to GMA News, FHM closed its print edition in the Philippines in 2018 and has been teasing its return with billboards across Metro Manila. Faye Lorenzo and Vanessa Peña are also among its Feature Girls for November.

For Liezel, being part of the magazine still feels unreal. “When they said that I would be part of FHM, I’m like, oh my god, almost all of the most beautiful women in the Philippines have been on the cover of FHM, and I’m part of it. So I’m like, it’s still surreal until now,” she said.

Back in October, the actress also excitedly announced on Instagram that she was one of the featured girls for the magazine’s return, captioning her post with “This is it,” as reported by Abante TNT. She described the experience as empowering and a way of embracing her femininity.
