The Washington men’s rowing team wrapped up the fall season with wins in each of its races Sunday at the annual Head of the Lake Regatta.

The annual event, co-hosted by the UW and Lake Washington Rowing Club, features a three-mile course, which starts in Lake Union, northeast of Gasworks Park, crosses Portage Bay, runs through the Montlake Cut and finishes in Union Bay of Lake Washington, just east of Conibear Shellhouse. See the link to the map for more.

The Husky men won the Men’s Collegiate/Open 8+ Ben Porter Cup, Collegiate JV 8+, Men’s Collegiate 3V8+ and Championship Men’s Collegiate/Open 4+ Sponsored by Pocock Racing Shells.

In the first race of the morning, the Huskies’ varsity eight, comprised entirely of returners from last year’s IRA National Championship team (including several who rowed in the victorious varsity eight), won the premier men’s event with a final time of 15:04.070, just over a minute ahead of second-place Oregon State.

In the JV race, Washington’s final time was 15:22.268, with Oregon State taking second again, about one minute, 21 seconds behind.

In the 3V8+ event, Washington entered two crews. The Huskies’ third varsity won the event, with a time of 15:28.825, with the freshman eight taking second place, in 16:22.073. A crew from the University of British Columbia took third.

Washington also had two crews in the Championship Men’s Collegiate/Open 4+ Sponsored By Pocock Racing Shells. The first of those two won the race with a time of 17:22.317, with the other Husky four taking second place, in 17:57.146. One of three Washington State crews in the event finished in third place.

The Head of the Lake was the final event of the fall season for the Huskies, who will train through the winter to defend their National Championship next spring. The 125th annual Class Day Regatta, which will open the spring season, is scheduled for March 21, 2026.
