Fashion’s biggest night is set to return with its signature blend of haute couture, celebrity spectacle and cultural buzz, as the Met Gala 2026 takes place on the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The annual event is expected to draw celebrities, influencers, creatives and leading figures from across the global fashion industry.

This year’s edition will be co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour, while Lisa will serve on the host committee.
When and where to watch
The Met Gala 2026 red carpet will be streamed live on Monday, May 4, beginning at 6 pm ET and 3 pm PT. Viewers can tune in via platforms such as Peacock and Hulu + Live TV. In India, audiences will be able to watch the live stream on Vogue’s digital platforms, including its website, X, Instagram and YouTube, starting at 3:30 am IST on May 5.
Theme and dress code
The theme for this year’s gala is Costume Art, aligned with the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition that explores the intersection of fashion, the body and art. The official dress code, Fashion Is Art, invites attendees to interpret clothing as a form of artistic expression and examine its relationship with the human body across time.
The exhibition will focus on Western art from prehistory to the present, exploring a range of body types including pregnant, corpulent, disabled and nude forms. It aims to highlight how garments both shape and are shaped by the body, reflecting evolving ideals and representations through history.
