OPINION: The Daily Star team joined over 22,000 fans at BST Hyde Park in dressing up as Pitbull for a night of pure nostalgia, huge hits and unforgettable chaos as Mr Worldwide delivered a legendary show
Pitbull at BST Hyde Park wasn’t just a concert – it was one of the best nights of our lives.
From the moment the gates opened on Friday (July 10), Hyde Park became one giant party fuelled by nostalgia, singalongs and thousands of fans dressed as Mr Worldwide himself. We’d heard people rave about Pitbull’s live shows for years, but we still weren’t prepared for the electric atmosphere that took over the park.
The warm-up acts weren’t just support – they were events in their own right. Lil Jon wasted no time turning Hyde Park into the world’s biggest club. Every ‘Yeah!’ and ‘Turn Down For What’ had thousands of people throwing their hands in the air as strangers became best mates for the afternoon.
Tinie Tempah kept the momentum going with hit after hit, reminding everyone why he dominated the charts throughout the 2010s. Kesha then followed with a set packed with pop anthems, effortlessly blending old favourites with newer tracks as the anticipation for Mr Worldwide reached fever pitch.
And then Mr Worldwide arrived and Hyde Park erupted.
From the opening song to the final confetti-filled finish, nobody stood still for a second. Every chorus was belted back at full volume. Every beat was met with bouncing crowds, waving arms and huge smiles as Pitbull rattled through a greatest hits set that reminded everyone just how many iconic songs he’s given us over the years.
His catalogue is packed with tracks that defined nights out, holidays and summers for an entire generation. Hearing them live alongside tens of thousands of fans created an atmosphere that’s almost impossible to put into words.
Looking across Hyde Park and seeing a sea of fake bald heads somehow made the whole thing even better. Wearing the bald cap was strangely liberating. Our hair was tucked away, nobody cared what they looked like and everyone fully committed to the joke. Thousands of people looking equally ridiculous has never been so much fun.
That’s exactly what makes a Pitbull concert so special. Nobody is too cool. Nobody is judging anyone. Everyone is there for one reason – to have the time of their lives.
And to top it all off, fans even helped break a Guinness World Record for the most people wearing bald caps at once, with a total of 22,141. Not many people can say they broke a world record on a night out.
If Pitbull comes anywhere near your city, buy a ticket. Don’t think about it. Just go. It isn’t just a standard concert, it’s a night of nostalgia and non-stop partying.
After Saturday night, we can safely say one thing – this definitely won’t be our last Pitbull show. Dale!
