HBO Max brought the cast of the much-anticipated Lanterns to the San Diego Comic-Con for a Hall H (the largest SDCC meeting room) panel, the perfect venue and audience to debut the official trailer. And based on online comments, HBO Max understood the assignment and nailed the new promo.
Season one premieres on August 16, 2026 and stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Kelly Macdonald. Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones also star.
“The series follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery with cosmic ties as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,” reads HBO Max’s synopsis.
Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King created the series and co-wrote the pilot. Mundy, Lindelof, King, James Gunn, Peter Safran, Ron Schmidt, and James Hawes are the executive producers, with Mundy serving as showrunner.
Season one directors include Hawes, Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov.
