Netflix categorizes Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look as a movie, and it’s unsurprisingly the most-watched piece of content on the streaming service this week. The 27-minute preview, taken entirely from in-game footage, gives us the clearest look yet at the hotly anticipated game. Set in the fictional state of Leonida (a Florida analog), it promises all of the mayhem of previous titles with even more room to roam.

The Rip
Netflix original The Rip is a great way to get into the GTA mindset. When a crew of Miami narcotics officers follows a tip to raid a trap house, they are surprised to find $20 million in cash hidden in the attic. Required to count the money before taking it into evidence, their presence soon becomes known, and a siege begins. Now they don’t know who to trust, and that much cash can motivate people to make some very bad decisions.
The Fast and the Furious
The Fast & Furious franchise is about as close as movies get to replicating the GTA experience. Go back to where it all began with the 2001 original, which was released the same year as Grand Theft Auto 3 and centers on Paul Walker’s character infiltrating illegal street-racing teams. Nine of the F&F movies are streaming on Netflix right now, so you can make a marathon of it.
Den of Thieves 2: Pantera
Pulling daring heists is one of the best parts of any GTA game. If that’s the vibe you’re looking for, 2025’s Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is worth a watch. When an international crew of criminals plots the robbery of the World Diamond Center in France, Gerard Butler’s troubled L.A. cop must once again face off with his nemesis (played by O’Shea Jackson Jr.) as their shared past catches up to them both. It’s a slick and entertaining caper that one critic called “absolute Dad cinema,” and that’s enough for us.
