Stars descended on London for this year’s Bafta Film Awards at the Royal Festival Hall, to celebrate the best of the big screen.

A host of famous names gathered for the UK film calendar’s most celebrated night; some of the women favoured ruffled dresses, while others opted for opulent colours and various textures including velvet and sequins.

While the majority of men wore tuxedos, the only bear – Paddington – turned up in his usual duffle coat and hat (which we hope had a marmalade sandwich stashed beneath it, in case he felt peckish).

No stranger to award ceremonies, One Battle After Another’s star Leonardo DiCaprio, who was up for best actor, strolled onto the red carpet outside the venue.

Hamnet star Paul Mescal, who was a best supporting actor nominee, embraced his girlfriend, singer Gracie Abrams, before the ceremony, with many fans on social media saying they had made themselves “red carpet official” by appearing together.

Timothée Chalamet, who was up for best actor for Marty Supreme, attended the awards with his girlfriend, reality star and businesswoman Kylie Jenner.

Teyana Taylor, who was up for best supporting actress for One Battle After Another, is bang on trend with the colour of her silken ruffled dress, in a deep, rich brown. It also no doubt stopped her getting chilly on the red carpet.

I Swear star Robert Aramayo [R], who has also appeared in TV series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Game of Thrones, won for best actor and rising star. He is pictured with the inspiration for I Swear, Tourette’s syndrome campaigner John Davidson.

US actor Michael B Jordan, also famous for his roles in the Black Panther films and Creed, was up for best actor for his role as twins in Sinners.

Prolific author Maggie O’Farrell, who wrote Hamnet, wore a feather (or perhaps a writer’s quill) on top of her head, while her striking gold boots contrasted with her red outfit.

Alan Cumming was the host with the most, certainly when it came to hair embellishments and his sparkling brooch. The US Traitors host and actor was clearly delighted to showcase his sartorial style on the red carpet.
