May is Building Safety Month, a time to highlight how building officials helps protect people and places across our community. From homes and businesses to public spaces, building officials play a key role in supporting health, accessibility, and long‑term community well‑being.
In 2025, the Municipality of Middlesex Centre issued 333 building permits for a wide range of construction projects, including new homes, renovations, sheds and garages, swimming pools, commercial buildings, and septic systems. For each permit, building officials review plans, issue approvals, and conduct inspections to ensure construction meets the requirements of the Ontario Building Code.
Building Safety Month is also a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility. When residents and businesses apply for permits and follow approved plans, they help ensure projects are built safely and correctly. These efforts help protect property, prevent future problems, and support safe growth throughout Middlesex Centre.
