Hello Players,
This is the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Anti-Cheat Team.

We continuously advance our anti-cheat systems to ensure a fair competitive environment for all players.

In this Dev Letter, we’d like to share updates of our recent efforts to reduce false bans, strengthen countermeasures against network abuse in console environments, and expand detection of macro mouse usage.

1. Improvements to Reduce False Bans

The PUBG Anti-Cheat Team has been working to reduce false bans while maintaining a robust system for detecting illicit behavior, ensuring that legitimate players are not subject to unnecessary restrictions.

Improved Accuracy of AI-Based Detection Systems

We have applied additional validation steps to our AI-based detection system with the goal of reducing false bans.

As a result, we have observed a reduction of over 40% in ban appeals. These improvements allow us to swiftly issue bans to cheaters while ensuring a safe and reliable environment for legitimate players.

Introduction of a Protection System to Reduce Incorrect Sanctions

To prevent legitimate players from being affected by false bans, we have implemented a protection system across the entire sanction decision process.

This allows us to maintain the same level of detection against cheaters while reducing the risk of false bans for legitimate players.

2. Strengthening Fair Play Measures in Console Environments

Countermeasures Against Network Latency Abuse

We have strengthened our response to cases where players intentionally induce network latency in console environments to gain an unfair advantage in combat.

Such behavior disrupts normal gameplay and severely undermines fair competition. As a result, we have decided to apply permanent bans to accounts engaging in this activity.

We have established review criteria to identify such behavior and are currently operating under these standards, with plans to continuously expand our detection scope.

Countermeasures Against Unauthorized Input Devices (Converters) and External Hardware

We are actively detecting and banning the use of unauthorized input devices, such as converters (e.g., Cronus, XIM, Mix Master) used to enable mouse and keyboard inputs.

The use of such devices undermines the fairness of the console environment and is subject to strict penalties. To avoid account saction, we strongly recommend using only official controllers.

We are also continuously expanding detection of unauthorized hardware used for advantages such as recoil control. To help maintain a fair gameplay environment, we ask that you immediately discontinue the use of such devices.

3. Enhanced Detection of Macro Mouse and Script Manipulation

The use of macro mouse and related scripts designed to artificially reduce or eliminate weapon recoil for unfair advantage is a clear violation of the PUBG Rules of Conduct and undermines fair play.

The PUBG Anti-Cheat Team is continuously developing new detection technologies to more precisely identify mouse script manipulation, and these technologies are being gradually deployed to the live service. In addition, we will continue to strengthen our enforcement measures based on collected data. In this regard, we would like to inform players of the following:

Prohibition of Unauthorized Software and Input Devices

Software and input devices that manipulate game data or generate abnormal inputs, including mouse scripts, are subject to focused detection.

Strict Actions in Accordance with the Rules of Conduct

If such activities are detected, strict actions, including account restrictions, may be taken in accordance with the Rules of Conduct. Please note that any resulting disadvantages are solely the responsibility of the violating party.

We will continue R&D efforts on illegal input devices, including macro mouse, and further advance our detection systems to respond quickly to newly emerging macro techniques.

Developer Commentary

Anti-cheat efforts go beyond detecting and sanctioning those who use illegal programs. Protecting legitimate players from unfair harm is equally an essential responsibility we must uphold.

As part of this effort, we are reviewing a plan to expand the policy for lifting sanctions due to account theft. For accounts with Secondary Password enabled, we are considering increasing the eligibility from a one-time lifetime exemption to up to twice per year.

Player reports and feedback are invaluable in helping guide our direction. We sincerely appreciate your continued support and participation.

The PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Anti-Cheat Team will continue to respond to evolving threats and share ongoing improvements, with the goal of ensuring that match outcomes are determined solely by players’ skill and judgment.

Thank you!

We’ll see you in the next Dev Letter.
