Sarah posted earlier about all the MCU and superhero business at D23 this weekend, which is Disney’s major fan event, and Disney is about more than superheroes and Star Wars etc. Disney also makes princesses, and Anne Hathaway is now an official Disney princess. Well, actually, she’s been a Disney princess, Mia Thermopolis, for a quarter of a century now – multiple princesses, if we’re getting picky. Because there’s also Ella Enchanted and… Andy Sachs at this point is pretty much a Disney princess. Which is why this Disney princess, Anne Hathaway, IRL is officially a Disney legend.
Her ceremony happened during D23 and she was introduced by director David Frankel and Anna Wintour. I read about this at first and I was like… Anna Wintour went to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA?! As IF. She sent a video, LOL.
This was a big deal for Anne. Like a big deal, period, but an extra big deal because she has kids who are of the age where they care a LOT about Disney, like still little but also old enough to understand that being a Disney icon is a big deal. So her sons were with her and her husband and she also had her parents there – a whole family trip.
Literally a trip that was more than Anne just getting an award, obviously. Being a Disney legend probably means alllll kinds of perks to the park.
Like I’m pretty sure Annie didn’t have to buy her own light sabre. Seriously they love her so much over there, and they should, that if she ends up in a future Star Wars movie, like the mother of the mother of the mother of all the Skywalkers, well, that would track too.
