The man killed in a July 22 auto-pedestrian incident involving an 18-wheeler outside the House of Chin Fe in Anigua remains unidentified, and an investigation is ongoing, according to the Guam Police Department on Wednesday.
The adult male pedestrian was not carrying identification at the time of the crash, according to a GPD release. Police are working with the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the male through fingerprint analysis.
GPD information released Wednesday indicates the 18-wheeler truck involved was parked on the shoulder of W. Soledad Ave., adjacent to House of Chin Fe, before the July 22 accident.
“The operator of the truck then drove westbound and felt a bump towards the back tires and upon exiting, noticed a male lying on his back,” GPD stated. “CPR was administered by Medic 1 personnel and discontinued.”
A further check was made at the Guam Memorial Hospital emergency room by Dr. Martin Springer, who pronounced the victim deceased at 3:50 p.m. The victim’s body was transferred to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
At the scene on July 22, multiple GPD units could be seen surrounding a red 18-wheel truck hauling a Matson Navigation container. Orange paint markings were on the ground and pavement to the front, rear and sides of the vehicle.
Near paint markings at the rear of the vehicle, there was a to-go food container.
Police were observed interviewing multiple witnesses and deployed an aerial drone to map the scene of the accident.
Department of Revenue and Taxation personnel were also at the scene.
