LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A major highway in La Vergne will be closed after a fire sparked at a business early Friday morning.
The La Vergne Fire Department responded to Driggers Auto Services around 4 a.m. after a passerby saw the business on fire and called it in.
Fire crews arrived to find the property fully engulfed, with the tires and vehicles in the lot fueling the flames. Firefighters worked from the perimeter to contain the fire from spreading.
No injuries were reported.
The 500 block of Old Nashville Highway was closed to allow fire personnel room to battle the fire from the road.
The closure is affecting morning commuters, so drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
The La Vergne Fire chief expects Old Nashville Highway to be closed for several hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
