Perez Hilton’s mother has filed for temporary custody of the gossip blogger’s three children after he was hospitalised following a mental health crisis last week.

Hilton gave consent for his mother, Teresita Lavandeira, to take custody of his children,  Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight, while he remains in treatment, according to court documents obtained by US media outlets.

“I realise that by signing this document, I am consenting to the Petitioner having temporary legal custody of the minor children and that such temporary custody is in the best interest of the children,” the documents obtained by Page Six read.

According to the document, she will be able to consent to any medical care the children need, have access their records and make educational decisions, as well as “all other things necessary for the care of the children”.

“I realise that the custody of my children by the Petitioner is temporary and that I may, at any time, petition the court to return legal custody to me,” the document continued.

“I understand and acknowledge that I may have to comply with a reasonable transition plan prior to the court returning legal custody to me.”

Hilton’s layer also issued a statement adding the main priority is making sure the children are safe.

“My main concern and objective, as well as the family’s, is to protect the children and make sure they are safe,” Hilton’s attorney Natalie Guerra-Valdes told Us Weekly.

“We want them to have some sense of normalcy as they begin their journey of healing after the tragic events that occurred last week.”

On Tuesday last week, Hilton, born as Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, was hospitalised after suffering a mental health crisis during a disturbing livestream.

A statement shared on Hilton’s website says that Hilton’s children and niece were inside the home at the time, but “fled” with his sister when she realised what was going on.

Authorities were dispatched to Hilton’s home on August 4 after “multiple calls” from concerned individuals about a person “livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media,” the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

The Sheriff’s office later confirmed that Hilton had been “safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.”

The family urged paparazzi and media to vacate the property and allow Hilton’s children privacy during “this unimaginably difficult time”.
