The latest Ryan Murphy series now available on Disney+ showcases several familiar faces portraying real-life figures.

Episodes of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette began appearing on the platform earlier this month, with fresh instalments dropping weekly every Friday.

The show draws from Elizabeth Beller’s book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

Much like its source material, the series seeks to chronicle the authentic account of the couple’s romance and how their existence became a subject of widespread public and press interest.

Connor Hines actually created and penned the series, with Murphy serving as executive producer.

Spanning several years throughout the 1990s, numerous prominent individuals from the couple’s inner circle – including personalities from fashion, politics and Hollywood – also appear.

This includes Oscar winner Naomi Watts portraying Jackie Kennedy and model Dree Hemingway playing Kill Bill star Daryl Hannah. Yet one cast member who has particularly captured viewers’ attention is the actress taking on the role of Carolyn Bessette’s mother, reports the Mirror.

Whilst she may look almost unrecognisable in Love Story, there are numerous previous performances that audiences will remember her from, including a recent series of a popular Netflix programme. But who is Constance Zimmer?

And where have you spotted her before her Love Story appearance? Here’s everything you need to know.

American actress Constance Zimmer boasts an impressive career spanning several decades. The 55 year old first appeared on screen back in 1993, taking on minor television roles.

In Love Story, she portrays Ann Marie Messina, Carolyn Bessette’s mother, who makes her first appearance in episode four. Ahead of the show’s launch, Zimmer shared her excitement on Instagram: “SURPRISE! Tonight you will meet my character Ann Marie Messina, the mother of Carolyn Bessette on Love Story! This role was such a gift for so many reasons and I can’t wait for you to continue to follow along on the journey.”

Among her most celebrated previous roles is movie executive Dana Gold in Entourage, where she assists Ari in landing the Aquaman role for lead character Vincent Chase. She also portrayed Claire Simms across 23 episodes of Boston Legal.

In more recent years, she took on the role of Janine Skorsky in Netflix’s House of Cards and featured in the second series of crime drama Big Sky. She played a pivotal role in the latest instalment of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, portraying prosecutor Dana Berg, who is determined to convict Micky Haller of murder.

Whilst Zimmer is of a comparable age to Carolyn Bessette’s mother at the time of her daughter’s marriage to JFK Jr, she appears to have been subtly aged through hair and makeup. The real Ann Marie sported noticeably more grey hair than Zimmer.

However, according to Steven M. Gillon’s biography America’s Reluctant Prince, she delivered remarks at the couple’s rehearsal dinner where she expressed doubts about whether her daughter’s prospective husband was the appropriate match for her.

Attendees reportedly described the moment as awkward and uncomfortable.
