The cryptocurrency industry is funding a super PAC that plans to spend roughly $30 million in the Ohio Senate race to try to keep former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown from returning to office.

This effort comes after Democrats voted against a digital asset bill supported by the crypto industry, according to the Politico news outlet.

The PAC is called Fairshake and it spent about $40 million to defeat Brown in the Ohio Senate race in 2024.

Brown is now trying to return to D.C. in a special election against GOP Sen. Jon Husted to replace now-Vice President JD Vance.

Brown’s campaign manager slammed Husted and said that he serves billionaires who are pouring money in the race to keep him in office.

“Of course the special interests are panicking, they know Sherrod will fight the rigged system they’re feasting on to stand up for working Ohioans,” he said, according to the news outlet.

As the midterms approach, Ohio is one of the states that Democrats hope to win and flip to help get the majority.
