I first wrote about Ruti’s On The Loose Pants in The Airport Outfit I’m Wearing Instead of Leggings, because they are ridiculously comfortable. Lightweight, loose, easy to pack, don’t wrinkle…basically everything I want in a travel pant.
But if I had to describe my personal style in one sentence, “How can I make this a little sexier?” would probably be pretty accurate. 😂 So if anyone was going to take a pair of comfy travel pants and turn them into a dinner outfit…🙋♀️.
Ruti On The Loose Pants: From Airport Outfit To Date-Night Outfit
I already knew I loved these pants for travel. They’re lightweight, drapey, don’t wrinkle easily and are comfortable enough to sit in for hours, which is exactly why they replaced leggings for my airport outfit.
But paired with Ruti’s Washable Silk Button Down? Totally different vibe.
A few buttons undone, strappy heels, gold jewelry and a metallic bag, and suddenly I’ve got a going-out outfit that’s every bit as comfortable as my airport one.
And this is exactly the kind of outfit I want when I have zero bandwidth to actually put together an outfit. Going monochromatic does most of the work for me and is one of my favorite tricks (especially in the fall). The matching navy looks intentional without requiring any real styling, then I can just add heels, layer on some gold jewelry and grab a fun bag and be done.
The Washable Silk Shirt Is REALLY Good, Too
And can we talk about the shirt for a second? Because it’s so soft and comfortable and noticeably different from the satin shirts I have in my closet.
It’s definitely an investment, but I can actually feel the difference here. The real silk is softer, drapes better and just feels so much nicer than the synthetic silky/satiny shirts I’m used to. AND it’s washable and can go in the dryer on low. (YES.)
It runs slightly big, so I sized down to a 4 for a closer fit. I love it tucked into the pants to define my waist, but it hangs beautifully untucked, too.
And yes, obviously it works with jeans, too. (I figured you might want to see it.)

The Ruti Pants In Petite Sizing & ‘Verdant’ Green
Below are the same pants in green and in the petite length, for reference (I’m 5’4″ and typically a 6/28. They come in long lengths as well).

They can go from a plane with a blazer, to this super-casual version, to dinner with heels and a silk shirt without ever losing the thing I liked about them in the first place: they’re ridiculously comfortable.
And now I find out they come in a soft, more structured scuba fabric?? I feel like those could be SO good for cooler weather. Obviously I need to investigate. 😆
