Margot Robbie has stunned fans after legally adopting her husband’s last name.
Despite it being nearly a decade since the Aussie actor married Tom Ackerley, new documents have revealed she’s ditched her Robbie surname.
It’s been tradition for decades for the bride to take their husband’s last name, but the tide appears to be turning, with 75 per cent of Yahoo Lifestyle readers urging women to do what they want, and it shouldn’t be assumed.
New documents have revealed Margot Robbie has legally taken her husband’s surname.

Margot’s new name was unveiled when files for Margot and Tom’s joint production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, were submitted in the UK this week.
It’s unclear whether this will filter through to the Barbie actor’s name for her TV and film work.

Batman star Michael Caine was born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx is legally Eric Marlon Bishop, and Vin Diesel was actually given the name Mark Sinclair when he came into this world.
Margot hasn’t commented publicly on the name change, but with news of it circulating on social media, fans aren’t sure how to feel.

“I’m sorry, but you marry a Margot Robbie or a Zendaya Coleman, you take THEIR name,” one said.
“Her name was so big, elegant and fit her so well too.. Biggest stupidity she has done this far,” added another.
While others thought the decision “deserved respect”.
Margot and Tom have been together for more than 12 years.

The unofficial Margot Robbie fan club account on X was particularly outspoken.
“To the people commenting on her changing her surname as if they have a say, it’s her decision, and she wasn’t forced to do it,” the administrator said.
“It’s not up to us to judge what she does with her life and how she chooses to live it. She had very clearly already changed her surname to Ackerley when she first got married.”
Margot and Tom got married in December 2016 three years after meeting on the set of a film.
The pair launched LuckyChap Entertainment in 2014 with Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr, and it’s been responsible for producing incredible films like series Birds of Prey, Promising Young Woman, Barbie and Saltburn.
