The second edition of the MPSF Championship will take place in Northern California.

Bears To Defend MPSF Crown

The No. 2 California men’s rowing team will look to defend its crown at this year’s MPSF Championship on Lake Natoma in Sacramento on Sunday morning. The second edition of the MPSF Men’s Rowing Championship will feature five races beginning at 9 a.m. PT.

The regatta will consist of grand final races in the first through third varsity eight, varsity four and freshmen eight events. The MPSF Champion title will be awarded to the winner of the varsity eight race.

Six teams will take to the waters in Northern California, three of which have their varsity eights ranked in the latest weekly IRCA/IRA Coach’s Poll: No. 1 Washington, No. 2 Cal and No. 5 Stanford. Oregon State, UC San Diego and British Columbia will round out the competition field.

The Golden Bears made history last year as the first ever MPSF Champions since the conference added the sport in 2025. Cal upset the top-ranked Huskies in the battle of the varsity eights by nearly two seconds to lift the trophy.

This weekend’s race will serve as a precursor to the IRA Championships May 29-31 at the same location as the Bears chase their 20th overall national title and first since 2023.

The MPSF Championship races can be live streamed on Overnght with live results also available here.
