Good morning, everyone. I hope this diary publishes without giving me grief. The Pootie one I wrote last Wednesday got hung up. An error message kept popping up saying I didn’t have any alternate text under a couple of embeds. I thought I filled something in there but the site said I didn’t. I found the fastest and easiest way to get it to publish was to simply delete the images in question. We’ll have to see how this one goes. But first, the obligatory housekeeping:

I probably won’t have enough time to write much of a body for this diary here this week. As you may know, I am finally dumping my old phone company and internet service provider. My old one has been charging me through the nose for, gosh, about 25 years. Charter Communications sent a young guy around to cold call on my neighborhood and see if anyone wanted to switch telecom companies. Since I am still annoyed with Frontier, rather than slamming the door in this young man’s face, I listened to his pitch.
It seems I’ll be getting a much better deal on phone service even after the promotional deal expires. I can also keep my old landline number. Speaking of which, even when you consider the senior age of a lot of this depressed county, next to no one is opting to keep those old dinosaurs. In fact, this guy had to call his boss to make sure he was switching me over correctly.
I had to hand it to this guy, he was being quite honest about the company he worked for. For instance, when I mentioned my past experiences with Charter’s cable TV he cut in and said their cable rates were obscenely expensive. Also, as he was finishing up the deal, he apologized and said there were some questions he had to ask me or he could lose his job. One was would I mind getting regular emails from Charter. After he asked me that, he mouthed a, “No! No!” while he waved his hands through the air. My email account gets enough political spam as is without getting additional regular sales pitches. I nixed that last one.
It seems I did get a respectable body of text written in spite of myself. I’m surprised. See, a technician from Charter is supposed to show up Monday morning and get my new modem set up. I figure the least I should do is get this place tidied up a bit. I at least want to get my floors vacuumed and wiped up. That’s taking up most of my time. They were pretty bad. I desperately need a new vacuum.
We’re always looking for new diarists whether to assume weekly duties or for a one shot deal. Contact either officebss or Ozarkblue if you’re interested.
Now on with the tunes.
So what’s on your mind this morning?
