The problem stems from the oven’s bake burner in dozens of Frigidaire gas range models.
WASHINGTON — About 174,800 Frigidaire gas ranges were recalled this week due to a burn hazard in the unit’s oven that has already caused 30 burn injuries, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The problem stems from the oven’s bake burner in dozens of Frigidaire gas range models.
“The ovens in the ranges can experience a delayed ignition of the oven’s bake burner, posing a risk of burn hazard,” CSPC said in the Mar. 19 notice.
By Thursday, 62 people had reported the delayed ignition issue, including the 30 who reported burn injuries.
Sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s and on Frigidaire.com, among other retailers, between June 2025 and January, the gas ranges include both an oven and stovetop. The issue is mostly confined to the United States; however, about 5,300 were sold in Canada.
Anyone with one of these gas ranges should reach out to the manufacturer, Electrolux Customer Products. According to CPSC, customers will get a free repair.
Consumer advocates said the gas ranges’ stovetops are still safe to use despite the recall.
