Aussie film star Margot Robbie is understood to have splashed a record $28 million on a luxury estate in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The homegrown Hollywood icon is reportedly the secret buyer of a Yellowstone-style ranch in Currumbin Valley, where the actor spent part of her childhood before finding fame.

Property records show the off-market sale was completed last June, with the luxury estate changing hands for an eye-watering sum of $28 million, making it Queensland’s most expensive residential transaction ever.

The property boasts six bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a stables and a full-size tennis court.

Previous listings of the ranch show the stunning 2.9-hectare property boasts six bedrooms, six bathrooms and a garage large enough for 10 vehicles as well as horse stables, a swimming pool and a full-size tennis court.

The secluded estate offers privacy, vast acreage and is only a short drive from the coast — making it appealing to high-profile celebrities and Oscar-nominated actresses like Robbie.

The Gold Coast-born celeb has previously spoken in interviews about her fond memories of growing up with her three siblings in Currumbin Valley, where her grandparents had a farm.

In a 2019 interview with her mother for Vogue Australia, the star recalled doing her homework in a tree and looking up at the stars from a water tank at the property.

“Do you remember when we lived in Currumbin Valley, I would always do my homework in a tree?” she asked her mother in the interview.

“I’ve said that to friends now who grew up in New York City or London and they have no idea what I mean. And I say: ‘Well, there were camphor laurel trees down the back past the paddock and Mum could yell out the window when dinner was ready’.

“You tell stories like that and you realise how lucky you are to have grown up on the Gold Coast.”

Other big sales in the area recently include influencer Ellie Watson’s Mediterranean-style estate The Valle Casa, which sold to model and content creator Isabelle Mathers for $5.9m last November.

Neither Robbie nor her representatives have publicly commented on the reported purchase.
